December 29, 2020 The Sanilac County Sheriff Department, and other county emergency agencies, could let Santa have all the fun this past week. The department got into the holiday spirit when they hosted their 10th annual “shop with a hero” although a bit differently this year. When all the holiday cheer had been handed out, law enforcement officers, fire department personnel and EMS staff were able to help out nearly 120 people from over 30 families. Because of the pandemic, the annual Scotch Doubles tournament, which is a major fundraiser, wasn’t able to be done, but several in the community stepped in and donated.

Woman injured in Sanilac County crash

  (SANILAC COUNTY) – The Sanilac County Sheriff Department continues to investigate an accident over the weekend that injured a 36-year old woman. According to authorities, the woman was seriously injured in a one-vehicle accident Sunday evening in Sanilac County’s Moore Township. Sanilac County Sheriff Deputies say a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze operated by the woman from Chesterfield, was heading east on Washington Street, near Clark Street, when her vehicle entered a ditch before jumping an embankment and striking several trees. The woman was ejected from the vehicle, sustaining serious injuries. She was transported to McKenzie Health System in Sandusky by Sanilac EMS and later flown to St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw by Life Net helicopter.
