Montreal's STM is at it again, and this time they're playing Cupid with the metro map. The Société de transport de Montréal has slapped a fresh coat of love-themed puns on station signs, just in time for Valentine's Day. Whether you're a cynic or a sap, you can't help but crack a smile or roll your eyes.
The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) has never shied away from a comical online moment, whether it be Metro stations getting Star Wars-themed names for May The 4th, or new holiday-themed station names during the winter season that are as clever as they are quirky, and this time around is no different.
With four lines and 68 stations the Montreal metro has a pretty good rep, and rightfully so considering it's one of the best public transit systems in North America. Now, while the metro gets you where you need to be in decent time, things aren't always smooth sailing. The day has officially arrived! Seven Montreal metro stations are now free on weekends this summer from June 24 to September 5 all as an initiative to promote public transit use throughout the 514. The news was first announced back on June 16, when Montreal Mayor, Valérie Plante announced that seven stations along the green and orange line would be free to access during the summer. The metro stations that Montrealers can access for free on weekends for the next few months are: Berri-UQAM, Champ-de-Mars, McGill, Peel, Place-d'Armes, Place-des-Arts and Saint-Laurent.
