Over 1 million Hydro-Québec customers lost power during the April 2023 ice storm. Now, some Quebec households who lost food as a result can claim up to $300 in compensation from the government.
After six days without power, some West Island municipalities say a conversation needs to be had with Hydro-Quebec on how to minimize the effects of ice storms in the future.
The City of Montreal says it has been inundated by calls to 311 city services over reports of fallen trees and broken branches from last week's ice storm.
‘People are angry, they’re frustrated, the fuses are shortening very quickly and, particularly, this is Easter Sunday,’ said Beaconsfield mayor Georges Bourelle.
