Montreal city officials released details illustrating that revenues are down by almost $120 million this year and expenses have dramatically increased.
Montreal's latest budget was released on November 29, revealing the city's priorities and providing further funding to sectors deemed in need, including the environment and the police force. Among other changes, the city budget includes an increase in property taxes: by 4.1 per cent for residential buildings and 2.9 per cent for non-residential properties. The budget report notes that these figures "remain below the anticipated level of inflation for 2023."
