Michigan Ross School of Business appoints interim dean She joined UM in 1995 DeRue leaving academia for private sector Francine Lafontaine The University of Michigan s Ross School of Business has appointed an associate dean within the school to guide the school through a leadership transition. Francine Lafontaine has been named interim dean at Michigan Ross, the school announced earlier this week. Effective May 24, she replaces Scott DeRue, who announced a month ago his departure from the post to take a senior executive position at an undisclosed company. Lafontaine, whose research focuses on industrial organization, has worked at UM more than 25 years, joining the business school as an assistant professor in 1995. She has served as a professor and the associate dean for Business + Impact at the school since 2010. She was an assistant professor at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh for three years before moving to Ann Arbor. She served as director at the Bureau of Economi
