This all shows me that the historic Plains cold wave was largely tied to the ozone & Stratospheric Warming in the Arctic & not any of the ocean sea surface temperatures in the Pacific or Atlantic or any big teleconnectic pattern.  Only the Greenland Blocking assisted in enhancing the cold & keeping it so far south (this was tied to warm water around Greenland & ice melt).  Some cold waves have strong teleconnectic, ocea

I measured about 1 .  Highest total was west of Brook with 2.7 .  2 was reported by Jim at Kentland.  Mary Ann in Remington measured 1.5 .  This was part of the band of heavier snow with to 3 in Iroqouis through Livingston & Woodford counties in Illinois. Tim in Veedersburg measured 1.5 snow, but Randy in Frankfort had 0.5 .  John in Fowler had 1.7 .  CoCo observer in Denver measured 1 & 1 was measured at Kewanna.

32 mph Michigantown Up to 1.5-2 snow has occurred in our far northern & northeastern counties with less amounts farther to the southwest.  We have a 0.1 on the board at our WLFI ob site. Blowing & drifting snow & much colder weather is moving in.  Roads are icing up & with light snow in the area accumulating still, watch for icy travel tonight-Friday morning. Lows tonight should drop to 10-18 with wind chills -11 to -2.  WATCH FOR FROZEN CAR DOORS IN THE MORNING! Highs of 20-27 are expected tomorrow with winds gusting from the west to 37 mph with skies becoming partly cloudy. We will cloud up Saturday after sunshine for a while.
