Three teenage boys from Greenville were injured in a car crash on Wednesday night in a car that was reported stolen. The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash around 8:20 p.m. on Berridge Road near Sidney Road. The investigation found a 1999 Cadillac was traveling south on Berridge Road when the driver lost control and the vehicle left the roadway.
A Gowen woman, who was allegedly nearly three times over the legal limit for alcohol when she struck and killed two pedestrians in Greenville last summer, pleaded no contest on Wednesday morning to the two primary felony charges against her. Amber Martens, 34, was charged with two counts of operating while intoxicated causing death, two counts of leaving the scene of accident causing death, four counts of felony firearms and one count of carrying concealed while being under the influence of alcohol.

The Montcalm County Prosecutor’s Office recently hired two new assistant prosecutors and promoted another employee to chief assistant prosecutor. Ryan Villet, who was hired as an assistant prosecutor two years ago, was promoted to chief assistant prosecutor, succeeding Chris Hekman in that longtime role after Hekman resigned to take a job in Kent County.
