A bill from Rep. Alice Buckley, D-Bozeman, that has bipartisan support and was heard in committee Tuesday aims to provide an estimated additional 1,000 children in Montana with Best Beginnings Scholarship eligibility to offset child care costs for low-income Montana families.
The fees would be levied on nonprofit churches, educational facilities, health care facilities, public museums, art galleries, zoos, facilities to care for people with disabilities and mental illness, athletic fields, low-income housing and more, according to the bill.
