HELENA â Canadian truckers, First Nations peoples and others are receiving COVID-19 vaccinations through Montana efforts.
On Friday Gov. Greg Gianforte announced Montana and Alberta have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide vaccines to Albertan truck drivers in Montana.
âThe pandemic has had devastating consequences, including a severe impact on our economies,â Gianforte said. âBy working together and taking this critical action, we keep our trade channels open between Montana and Alberta.â
The agreement will provide the first dose of COVID-19 vaccines to Alberta commercial truck drivers who are regulated to transport goods into the United States. An estimated 2,000 Alberta truck drivers are eligible to be vaccinated under the program.

Alberta partners with Montana on trucker vaccinations
Alberta and Montana have reached an agreement to speed up the vaccination of Albertans by inoculating truckers who transport essential goods across the Canada and United States border.

Alberta commercial truck drivers who are regulated to transport goods into the United States will be able to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. About 2,000 Alberta truck drivers are eligible to be vaccinated under the program.

EDMONTON (660 NEWS) – The province has signed an agreement with Montana to give COVID-19 shots to truckers when they cross the Canada U.S border.
Premier Jason Kenney making the announcement Friday morning along with Transportation Minister, Ric McIver, and President of Alberta Motor Transport, Chris Nash.
MONTANA - Montana made an agreement with Alberta, Canada Friday giving free COVID-19 vaccines to Albertan truck drivers working in the state beginning Monday.
According to Gov. Gianforte s release, Montana will give first-dose COVID-19 to commercial truck drivers from Alberta who are administered to deliver goods into the United States.
âThe pandemic has had devastating consequences, including a severe impact on our economies,â Governor Gianforte said in the release. âBy working together and taking this critical action, we keep our trade channels open between Montana and Alberta.â
He continued, âI am grateful to Premier Kenney that we can band together to prevent the spread of COVID-19, protect truckers and their families from the virus, and ensure we maintain the exchange of goods our communities rely upon. Montana will continue working to maintain our strong bonds with the people of Alberta.â
