A prescribed burn is scheduled at Montaña de Oro State Park for Monday, November 21. Ignitions may start as early as 7 a.m. The burn is scheduled to last through Wednesday, November 23.
The prescribed burns are taking place in both San Luis Obispo County as well as in Santa Barbara County in order to prevent future fires in the region.
CAL FIRE has announced that June 1st is the official start of this year's fire season for San Luis Obispo County. The announcement comes a full month earlier than last year. The decision fluctuates each year based on the moisture levels and flammability of dry fuels.
