reported stellar off-the-charts monster earnings in the fourth quarter of last year. let s begin with some of the numbers look like. it was the best quarterly sales number ever. it was literally a blow-out first quarter. more than $26.5 billion in revenues. record quarterly profit of $6 billion. that it was $1 above expectations, which is crazy. profit rose an astounding 79% compared to a year ago at the same time. obviously this is coming from people buying iphones, ipads, ipods, mac computers. 16 million iphones were sold in the fourth quarter and more than 7 million ipads. clearly it is a winner. obviously there s still concern as to how long this medical leave of absence will take place, is this a short-term thing or a much more longer term problem. that s the major question we obviously can t answer as of yet. however, like i said, in tuesday s session stock was down 2% but after the bell, the shares were halted because there were so many players trying to get back into the market
