Fermanagh crash victim, Laoise Nolan mourned by heartbroken family

Laoise Grace Nolan died suddenly on June 26, following a road traffic accident outside Belturbet, Co. Cavan. Reflecting on life without Laoise, her devastated mother, Deirdre, said: “She will be sorely missed, and it is something we will never get over.” Laoise was “a very lovable, likeable and happy girl”. Her favourite colour was white; her favourite song was ‘I Hope’, by Gabby Barrett; and her favourite flower was the sunflower.  Since the 22-year-old was buried last Wednesday in Cross Cemetery, her grave has received new floral tributes daily. Deirdre said: “I have been to her grave every day, and there are more and more flowers every day.”

Bishop of Clogher ordinated in moving service in Fermanagh

THE Church of Ireland Diocese of Clogher now has a new bishop in place. The Right Revd. Dr. Ian William Ellis was consecrated as Bishop of Clogher at a service on the Feast Day of St. Mark, on Monday, April 26, in St. Macartan’s Cathedral, Enniskillen. He was previously the Rector of Rossorry Parish in Clogher Diocese. While the numbers attending were restricted due to the Covid-19 guidelines, many people watched the service at home as it was live-streamed on the Enniskillen Cathedral website. The Right Revd. During her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee visit to the north, Dean of Clogher, the Very Rev Kenneth Hall, and Monsignor Peter O’Reilly,welcomed the royal couple to St Michael’s Church and St Macartin’s Cathedral, as crowds congregated on the streets of Enniskillen. In a joint statement to the Herald, both churchmen paid tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh and his time in Fermanagh.

Coronavirus in Fermanagh: Mass returns as restrictions are gradually eased

NEW Coronavirus regulations are coming into place as society begins to gradually reopen following the latest wave of the Coronavirus pandemic.
