Reporter cornelius and huntersville unanimously passed the resolution. If davidson passes theirs today all three plan to present their resolutions to the cms board here at the government center. Channel 9 has extensively covered the Student Assignment issue. It is very early in the process and the goal is to reduce overcrowd and go break up concentrations of poverty in schools. However leaders want cms to guarantee the student will have a seat in their neighborhood schools. The resolutions serve as a strong message to the cms board and the town leaders hope the resolutions will influence the boards final decision on Student Assignment. I think people are looking for predictability and stability in their Student Assignment. And if you are not going to include a guaranteed home school, you kind of throw that reported last week matthews and mint hill are exploring ways to try to break away from this cms district.
