Monroe Museum makes history relevant
The Monroe News
History matters. History is relevant. When the Pew Research Center conducts a study on trusted institutions, museums always rank a close second behind libraries - a tremendous responsibility for museums. Though history is about the past, it was never intended for those who have passed. It is about our lived experience, about our connections, about our story to inspire a better future.
Large and small, in cities and rural locations, museums are helping to strengthen communities and contribute to not only quality of life enhancements and place-making, but heritage tourism. Additionally, cultural institutions are working to foster thoughtful discussions and dialogue about what’s important in their communities. Museums have great capacity to help people make sense of the past to navigate the future.
