Canton couple killed in N. Dixie traffic accident
An elderly couple from Canton died from injuries suffered in a traffic accident early Wednesday morning on N. Dixie Highway near the entrance of Sterling State Park.
The victims were identified as Larimore Clifford McDougall, 85, who was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, 85-year-old Marilyn Ann McDougall, was pronounced dead after being transported by Monroe County Ambulance to Beaumont Hospital in Trenton, according to a press release from the Monroe County Sheriff s Office.
The accident occurred around 5:23 a.m. Deputies said Mr. McDougall was driving the couple s 2017 Hyundai Sonata, and his wife was in the front seat passenger. Deputies said Mr. McDougall exiting the state park and attempting to turn left onto N. Dixie when when their car was struck on the driver s side by a 2011 GMC Sierra pickup truck. The pickup was traveling northbound and being driven by 55-year-old Debra Ann Lewis of Monroe.
Monroe woman killed in shooting
A 29-year-old Monroe woman was killed late Monday night in an apparent homicide.
Authorities were dispatched to the 6000 block of Greenwycke Lane in Monroe Charter Township at 9:20 p.m. in response to a report of a shooting.
Responding Monroe County sheriff’s deputies found a deceased female at the residence. She has been identified as Katlynn Nicole Hill, a resident of Monroe.
Responding deputies also located a male subject at the scene. The suspect was taken into custody without incident, according to Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough.
The suspect, a 29-year-old Monroe man, is being lodged at the Monroe County Jail. Authorities are withholding his identify, pending formal charges. Arraignment is expected soon.
