It s said that we know when it s our time to pass on.
That s what medical professionals told the Mendoza family earlier this year, when their father was lying weak in a hospital bed breathing almost solely with the assistance of a BiBAP machine and battling a deadly respiratory virus.
And after about a week spent in the Intensive Care Unit at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital, Carlos Mendoza Sr., 79, began tugging at the mask of his breathing support machine, signaling to doctors that it was almost his time.
Although a difficult reality to face, the Mendozas were thankful that ProMedica personnel could read the warning signs. It gave them time to say goodbye.
