The suspect ran from the scene shortly after the shooting. And theres no word if police have made any arrests at this point. The victim was shot in the arm and is expected to be ok. This incident is one of nearly 900 shots fired calls in to the Des Moines Police so far this year. Thats up from last years total of 848. And the years not over yet. But police say calls for service arent true indicators of crime rates. Police tell us they do use the calls to determine which neighborhoods need extra enforcement, especially during the summer months. Larry the Nebraska Court of appeals has ruled that a man in prison for molesting his 6 year old daughter should not have his parental rights terminated. That decision comes in a case where the girls stepfather is seeking to adopt her and her two younger brothers. The Appeals Court says the fathers rights shouldnt have been terminated under a state adoption law that allows the termination of parental rights if the parent has abandoned the child for at least six months prior to the adoption filing.
