Jail guard from N.J. used ‘emergency holiday’ to take part in riot at Capitol, FBI says
Updated Jan 25, 2021;
A Monmouth County woman took time off from her job as a jail guard earlier this month to attend the “Stop the Steal” rally in Washington, D.C. the same event that devolved into a violent attack on the Capitol building.
In court records posted online on Saturday, a special agent from the Federal Bureau of Investigation gave more details about the actions of Marissa Suarez and Patricia Todisco. Both women were arrested Friday on charges related to the insurrection.
At the time, Suarez was a probationary corrections officer at the Monmouth County Corrections Facility. She was scheduled to work on Jan. 6, the day of the riot, but used an “emergency holiday” to ditch her job, according to the agent. Suarez resigned from her job at the jail after being arrested.
