PETER Fox is the new Senedd Member for Monmouth in an election which saw a record turnout in the region. The Conservative candidate continued his party s hold on the seat which they have maintained since the first Senedd election back in 1999. However, their majority has been cut since the election in 2016. Turnout was confirmed as a record 52.8 per cent, up on 48.9 per cent in 2016. Despite queues and cold weather, the people of the Monmouth constituency were out in their droves to vote. Mr Fox received 15,332 votes to become the new MS for the region - but the Conservatives majority has been cut by more than 1,000 votes.
