Monkeypox is a viral zoonotic disease having common symptoms such as fever, skin lesions, lymphadenopathy, headache, muscle aches, exhaustion, chills or sweats and sore throat and cough.
Monkeypox: Myocarditis has also been reported in other monkeypox patients from the 2022 outbreak, although infectious disease specialists think it is most likely a rare consequence.
Delhi had registered its first monkeypox case on July 24 this year, a day after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared monkeypox a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.
The researchers said that monkeypox cases suggest underdiagnosed infection in the community, which emphasizes the need for active surveillance of MPXV in high-risk populations such as men having sex with men and female sex workers.
This comes as more than 35,000 cases of monkeypox have been reported worldwide across more than 92 countries and 12 deaths have been attributed to the disease.
