Tokio (dpa) - Bei den Olympischen Spielen in Tokio bejubeln die Gastgeber eine weitere Goldmedaille. Zwei prominente Namen sind im Tennis nicht mehr dabei, ein deutscher Schwimmer wird Vierter.
Schwimmen: Henning Mühlleitner hat eine Medaille nur ganz knapp verpasst. Der 25-Jährige belegte über 400 Meter Freistil den vierten Platz. Den erhofften Einzug in das Luftpistolen-Finale hat Europameisterin Carina Wimmer verpasst: Wimmer landete mit 571 Ringen (95, 94, 93, 97, 97, 95) auf Platz 20, Sportpistolen-Spezialistin Monika Karsch wurde mit 568 Ringen (98, 95, 96, 91, 95, 93) 29. Wimmer hatte im Vorfeld gesagt, dass sicherlich 577 bzw. 578 Ringe für den Finaleingang notwendig wären. Damit lag die 25-Jährige exakt richtig. Der letzte und achte Finalplatz ging mit 577 weg â ein hoher Wert, den Wimmer im Training aber schon mehrfach geschossen hatte.

The tabulation at the end of this article shows the performances in the event across seven major ISSF tournaments since the start of the Olympic qualification period. Besides the World Championships in 2018, there were four World Cups in 2019 (all offering Olympic quotas) and two World Cups in 2021 (which provide an indicator of recent form) that have been included in the table, in an attempt to determine the top contenders and medal favourites going into Tokyo. In the interest of uniformity, restricted events like continental championships and the World Cup Final (which is an invitational event) have not been included.
