Transport Minister holds virtual meeting with Ambassador of Kazakhstan

2021-03-15 16:03:27 Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Road and Transport Development L.Khaltar discussed bilateral road and transport relations and cooperation with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Mongolia Zhalgas Adilbayev during a virtual meeting. Minister L.Khaltar voiced hope that the important road and transport development works discussed at the 8th meeting of Mongolia-Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Commission for trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation will be carried out through effective cooperation. The Minister expressed an interest in actively cooperating in the establishment of a transport-logistics center and in the study of Mongolia-Russia-Kazakhstan railroad once international traffic resumes.

128 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Ulaanbaatar city

2021-03-14 12:04:21 Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At 11 a.m., March 14, the Ministry of Health provided updates on coronavirus situation in Mongolia. According to the Ministry, 128 people were detected with coronavirus after involving 17,894 people in PCR testing nationwide in the past 24 hours. Of the cases, 127 were confirmed in Ulaanbaatar city and one person, who arrived on a charter flight from Budapest on March 4, was tested positive by repeated test. Thus, the number of imported cases of COVID-19 has reached 423.   122 of the confirmed cases were close contacts of the previously confirmed cases while surveillance work is underway to define infection sources for 5 people. 169 new COVID-19 cases registered, total reaches 3,833

The daily COVID-19 press briefing by the Ministry of Health for March 13, Saturday, reported that a total of 169 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the past 24 hours. Some 19,318 COVID-19 PCR tests were carried out at laboratories in health clinics of Ulaanbaatar city and rural aimags.  156 newly-confirmed patients are close contacts of previously reported coronavirus cases and had been taken under precautionary home-based or hospital isolation.  Health officials are working to establish source of infection for 13 of the new cases in Ulaanbaatar city, according to the Deputy Head of the National Center for Communicable Diseases E.Temuulen. 

Mongolia welcomes first batch of COVID-19 vaccines via COVAX Facility

On March 12, Mongolia received 14,400 doses of AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccines via the COVAX Facility, a partnership between the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF.  This delivery is part of a first wave of arrivals that will continue in the coming days and weeks. UNICEF and WHO have been technically, financially and logistically supporting the Government of Mongolia to prepare for the COVID-19 immunization campaign. “In the battle against this global pandemic, countries around the world have launched the rollout of COVID-19 vaccination. The vaccination campaign in Mongolia started on 23 February 2021 and is accelerating further. We are happy to welcome the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines from the COVAX Facility. Vaccines provided by the COVAX Facility will help to immunize up to 20% of the population. It is a valuable contribution
