RESPECT the country’s laws!
This was the message from Mpumalanga police commissioner, Lieutenant-General Mondli Zuma recently.
He told the People’s Paper that police will be out in full force during the holidays to protect citizens and to ensure that they and their property are kept safe.
“We praise the joint forces for their resilience during this period, which saw perpetrators being put behind bars,” said Zuma.

MORE than 280 suspects were arrested during the safer festive season operation in Mpumalanga.
They were bust for allegedly being involved in various criminal activities including robbery, murder, rape and assault with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm as well as driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
This comes after multidisciplinary security forces were in full force to protect citizens during the festive season and beyond.
Mpumalanga police commissioner Lieutenant-General Mondli Zuma has called on the community to respect the law, and not commit crime or drive their vehicles while under the influence of alcohol, as 57 suspects were arrested for drunk driving.

Police Minister, General Bheki Cele will on Tuesday 15 December 2020, take the annual Safer Festive Season Inspection Tour to the Mpumalanga Province.
The visit forms part of efforts by the South African Police Service, to tighten the grip on crime this festive season.
Minister Cele, the National Commissioner of the Police, General Khehla Sitole, Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Mpumalanga, Lt General Mondli Zuma and the top management of the South African Police Service will assess the effectiveness of Safer Festive Season plans put in place, to ensure that residents and holiday makers are and feel safe, during the holiday season.
