Local Recovery Fund project to support young job seekers on Gold Coast
The Gold Coast region will benefit from a $56,449 investment to help local job seekers back into work, as part of the Australian Government’s Local Recovery Fund.
The Local Recovery Fund is an important part of the Local Jobs Program and the Australian Government’s Economic Recovery Plan. The first release of 15 local employment projects comprises an initial investment of more than $2 million.
Minister for Employment, Workforce, Skills, Small and Family Business, the Hon Stuart Robert MP, said local knowledge and community links will continue to play a vital role in Australia’s recovery from COVID-19.

Queensland Treasurer Cameron Dick has criticised the Commonwealth stimulus package to halve the price of flights, saying Queenslanders will not be supported to travel within their own state.
The federal government announced late last night that there would be discounted flights for 13 regions, that normally rely heavily on international travellers.
People from outside Queensland will be able to get the cheap flights, between April and July, to the Whitsundays, Cairns, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.
Corporate-box tickets to major sporting events, pre-pandemic overseas flights and even a kava bowl from Samoa are among the free gifts pocketed by Queensland s federal politicians in the past year. There were flights to Bangladesh, India and Israel from lobby groups and a charity were accepted by three MPs. Meanwhile ALP figure Evan Moorhead s lobby firm Anacta Strategies shouted two Queensland Labor senators tickets to the AFL grand final valued at $2250. The gifts are revealed in the official register of interests for federal MPs and senators. One of the most prolific gift accepters was Member for Moncrieff Angie Bell, who declared on her register of interest tickets to the PGA championship, Big Bash tickets, Eurovision Australia Decides, Magic Millions Hospitality, Pink Ribbon Race Day at the Gold Coast Turf Club, two events at the Home of the Arts on the Gold Coast, as well as a study tour to Bangladesh paid for by Save the Children.
