registered. i was covering latino volunteers, trying to register 20,000 latinos there. well, up to this day, election day, naleo and pugh hispanic research said 13 million have registered t registered to vote. we don t know how many headed to the polls until tomorrow but the clinton campaign field report said roughly a million latinos voted early and according to them, that s double the numbers of in 2012 so in this polling station where i am now in miami-dade county that tends to lean republican because of the cuban american population is where donald trump has his eyes set on today. this is the community he needs to turn out for him if he has to have any chance of winning the sunshine state. mariana atencio in miami. thank you so much. we saw hillary clinton there in chappaqua bright and early this morning casting her vote. we are, again, expecting to see donald trump do the same just a few blocks from where i sit any
it says vague general or down right evasive policy descriptions on some of the most important issues facing the country are becoming the rule for romney. it goes on to say romney is remarkably candid as though he s reading the stage directions about why he won t offer up details. he thinks it will undermine his chance to win. what does that mean? it means this guy does not like specifics. he went to naleo and gave a speech. to latinos who are the contentious element of our immigration debate. without tells us how he s going to offset all of those cuts. there s a report out today from senate democrats saying it will result in tax increases to middle class families. the guy knows that if those details come out, they become unsavory to the general
it seems mitt romney hasn t come up with a plan. he can t answer the direct question, if he would stay with or rescind the program. it s not that he can 0, it s that he won t answer. one of his advisers has said that he would rescind the decision the president put in place. and here s the other thing, consider the disrespect of going in front of naleo, one of the largest and most prominent latino groups in the country and not explaining yourself, not explaining self deportation and say that in a primary and have a totally different message in a general election. what about that? you can micromanage these debates, you can try to find one issue, but in the end of the day when a hispanic voterory any voter walkinize to the voting boolths, are things going to get better in america? is it going to be better for my family? who knows how to manage an economy? that s what people want to know. that s the issue. what do you think?
americans. an important vote this year. let s bring in the panel. steve hayes, writer for the weekly standard. kirsten powers, columnist for the daily beast. syndicated columnist charles krauthammer. okay, steve, the reception at this particular event and how it plays broadly in this campaign. president obama got a favorable, warm reception. not surprising now that naleo is predominantly democratic organization so it makes sense he would get that response. making an argument built on what he had done last week. i agree with him in one respect. this is all about politics. i think what the president did last week was essentially steal the bulk of marco rubio s plan because he wanted to be able to run on it. he wanted to go to this conference. be able to say hispanic voters for the rest of the campaign, i m fighting for you. doing this on your behalf. i think it sort of cheap that he did it this way. i mean marco rubio making progress, building a coalition. talking to the democrats.
