Kogi earmarks N3bn for Nigeria-CARES implementation

By Friday Idachaba Lokoja, Jan. 14, 2021 The Kogi Government has set aside over N3 billion to expand access to livelihood support and food security for the poor and vulnerable. Gov. Yahaya Bello donated the money under the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus – Program for Results (Nigeria CARES). He announced the donation, while declaring open a one-day key stakeholders’ sensitisation and training programme on Kogi Government version of NG CARES Programme for Results on Thursday. Represented by Dr Folashade Ayoade-Arike, Secretary to State Government (SSG), Bello said the programme was divided into three areas including Basic Social Cash Transfer under Social Safety Network Program; FADAMA and SMEs.

KG-CARES is a Kogi State Government version of NG-CARES Programme for results, aimed at mitigating the global effects of COVID-19 on the people and businesses in the state. Declaring the training and sensitisation of the stakeholders on Kogi-COVID-19 Action Recovery Stimulus (cares) programme open, the Governor who was represented at the occasion by the Secretary to the State Government, Folashade Arike, explained that Kogi State has no evidence of COVID-19, but the pandemic has induced effects which have reduced revenues and escalated inflation, putting needless pressures on the people of the state.
