Johannesburg, March 9 : The Central Gauteng Lions have announced that they are in the top 8 (Division 1) of the new domestic structure for the 2021/22 and 2022/2023 season which will further strengthen South Africa s cricket pipeline.
This news came following Cricket South Africa (CSA) in conjunction with an Independent Evaluation Committee (IEC) announcing the much-welcomed restructure.
Central Gauteng Lions CEO Jono Leaf-Wright says he is looking forward to sharing this journey with the fans, partners, players, staff and board. He said that the restructuring will result in more competitive and exciting cricket as each franchise battles it out in order to maintain or achieve Division 1 status.

Johannesburg, March 1 : Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Sunday congratulated the Imperial Lions for winning the T20 Challenge title at the Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium in Durban.
Wandile Gwavu s team beat hosts Hollywoodbets Dolphins by four wickets in the competition decider, with Kagiso Rabada (3/12) and Reeza Hendricks (39) playing key roles.
The entire tournament was played within a bio-secure environment (BSE) in the coastal city from February 19-28.
A total of 17 matches were played with the Dolphins topping the table with five wins from five matches, automatically qualifying for the final while the Lions ended second and beat the third-placed Dafabet Warriors in the play-off on Saturday.
