A massive earthquake of magnitude 6.1 hit the north west of Wellington, New Zealand on Wednesday. According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a moderately shallow depth of 57.4 km. The earthquake struck at 7.38pm at a depth of 76km. It was centred 50km north-west of Paraparaumu.
Puttur, Feb 11: The Bharat Mata Mandira, developed through the Dharmasri Prathishtana at Amaragiri in Ishwaramangala of Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district was formally inaugurated today by Union Minister for Home Affairs and Cooperation Amit Shah.
Early Monday morning (February 6), an earthquake of magnitude 7.8 struck south-central Turkey and Northwest Syria, reported AP. Buildings across the region were seen tumbling down, sparking a mad scramble to find survivors in the rubble and amidst an ongoing snow storm in many places.
When looking into the data, it can seem like there have been a lot more earthquakes happening around the area in the last 20 years. But that has not been the case.
