A Texas county of 2 million earns national praise for driving down homelessness and jail booking rates over the past two decades with the help of robust collaboration across agencies and a 37-acre one-stop shop. But even a Sedgwick County-scaled version of such a project would be financially challenging and would require consensus across a diverse array of stakeholders.

FacebookTwitterEmail
Haven for Hope CEO Kenny Wilson is stepping down.
Wilson, a former Bank of America executive, has been president and CEO of Haven for Hope since 2016. The nonprofit, the city’s largest homeless shelter, holds up to 1,700 people during the busiest times of year.
In a letter to staff, Wilson wrote that he will now serve as Haven’s “chief of strategic relations,” effective immediately. He’ll work with major donors, communicate with government leaders and help oversee a transition to a new CEO.
He will work part-time out of an office that isn’t on the shelter’s main campus.
