Govt to ensure 14,000MW power during irrigation season 308 File photo DHAKA, Jan 24, 2021 (BSS) – The government has taken steps to ensure supply of 14,000-MW electricity during the upcoming irrigation season. “We have instructed all concerned for completing necessary preparation to ensure supply of 14,000 MW power during the upcoming irrigation season,” State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said today. Remote Rangabali upazila gets electricity Staff Correspondent 23rd December, 2020 10:08:20 The hard to reach areas of Rangabali under Patuakhali district, lone off grid upazila in the country, have finally been brought under electricity coverage. In a statement, Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) the state-run organisation informed on Wednesday about the milestone achievement. A total of 1059 villages in the country including Rangabali upazila are considered as ‘off grid’ areas representing the remote territories from the mainland and remained surrounding with water and most of the time. The areas are surrounded by rivers and the Bay of Bengal. BREB Chairman major general (Retd) Moin Uddin mentioned the electrification of Rangabali upazila has set a benchmark in electricity supply to the remote area as part of government vision of cent percent coverage.
