While walking through the galleries of this year's "Chobi Mela", one would notice a wall covered with black posters. Right at the centre of each poster, there is a picture of a single tooth. Under the picture, it says ekta boka lokher daat. ekta, a grammatically incorrect phrase. The poster is bizarre and one might even wonder what it was doing there in the first place.
Govt to ensure 14,000MW power during irrigation season

DHAKA, Jan 24, 2021 (BSS) – The government has taken steps to ensure supply of 14,000-MW electricity during the upcoming irrigation season.
“We have instructed all concerned for completing necessary preparation to ensure supply of 14,000 MW power during the upcoming irrigation season,” State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said today.
He chaired a coordination meeting on uninterrupted power supply virtually and said the demand for power is being increased during the irrigation season, adding, that “We must ensure timely supply of power.”
The meeting was also addressed, among others, by power division secretary Md Habibur Rahman, Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) chairman Engineer Balayet Hossain, Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) chairman Major General (retd) Moin Uddin, Petrobangla chairman ABM Abdul Fattah and Director General of Power Cell Enginee
Remote Rangabali upazila gets electricity

The hard to reach areas of Rangabali under Patuakhali district, lone off grid upazila in the country, have finally been brought under electricity coverage.
In a statement, Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) the state-run organisation informed on Wednesday about the milestone achievement.
A total of 1059 villages in the country including Rangabali upazila are considered as ‘off grid’ areas representing the remote territories from the mainland and remained surrounding with water and most of the time.
The areas are surrounded by rivers and the Bay of Bengal.
BREB Chairman major general (Retd) Moin Uddin mentioned the electrification of Rangabali upazila has set a benchmark in electricity supply to the remote area as part of government vision of cent percent coverage.

Md Moin Uddin, the brother-in-law to the late Hifazat supremo Shafi, started a case against the 36, mostly followers of the hardline group’s current chief Junaid Babunagari, with the court of Chattogram Senior Judicial Magistrate Shiplu Kumar Dey on Thursday.
The court has accepted the petition and ordered the Police Bureau of Investigation to submit a report in a month, said Abu Hanif, the lawyer for the plaintiff.
