Nick Schulman Among Big Names Advancing to Day 2 of 2020 WSOP Main Event

Nick Schulman, the popular player and poker commentator, is among the many familiar faces advancing to Day 2 of the 2020 WSOP Main Event. The world-championship event produced a higher-than-expected turnout, with more than 700 players in the field.

The hybrid event (a mix of online and live play) kicked off on Nov. 29 on GGPoker for international players. That separate, but connected, tournament has already played down to its final table, which takes place Dec. 15 at King’s Casino in the Czech Republic, site of the canceled WSOP Europe series.

The US leg of the WSOP Main Event got underway on Sunday with many of the world’s top pros putting up $10,000 to try and win poker’s coveted title.

With players only allowed to ante up on WSOP.com if they were located in Nevada or New Jersey, the likes of Phil Helmuth had to travel specifically for the online MTT.
However, that didn’t seem to matter as the opening session attracted 705 players. That was more than international leg. Moreover, it broke the record for largest online tournament in the regulated US market.

Day 1 of the most prestigious WSOP Main Event since… well, summer, has arrived and despite there being nowhere near the same sort of prizepool, the name alone means that the hype is off the charts.
With the winner of this ‘Vegas Vacation’ style Main Event playing off against the eventual winner of the GGPoker ‘European Vacation’ final in just a couple of days’ time, anticipation of some sort of clash of the titans on December 30th is everybody in poker – and particularly the World Series of Poker – wants to see.
