Fresh talent galore at 25th IFFK; 10 new Malayalam filmmakers to exhibit works

As many as 10 new filmmakers from Malayalam alone will be exhibiting their works at this year’s festival. Besides, several newcomers from Tamil, Hindi and a variety of foreign languages are also ready to showcase their talent.  ‘Android Kunjappan Version 5.25 by Ratheesh Balakrishnan Pothuval, who bagged the Best Debut Director Award at the Kerala State Film Awards this year is a major highlight at this years festival. 14 films selected for competition section in IFFK; Churuli and Hasyam to represent Malayalam

Hasyam and Churuli posters Thiruvananthapuram: 14 movies have been selected in the competition section of this year’s International Film Festival of Kerala. The movies have been selected from 10 countries including Brazil, France and Iran.   Lijo Jose Pellissery’s ‘Churuli’ and Jayaraj’s ‘Hasyam’ are the Malayalam films competing in this year’s IFFK. The competition section also includes other Indian films including Mohit Priyadarshi’s debut film ‘Kosa’, Akshay Indigar’s ‘Chronicle of Space’. Iranian filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof’s award winning film ‘There is no evil’ is also part of the competition section. IFFK will also screen three films of South Korean director Lee Chang-dong this year.

14 Films, including two Malayalam entries, to compete for Suvarna Chakoram at IFFK Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 6 (UNI) This year’s edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) will have four Indian films vying with each other for the prestigious Suvarna Chakoram (Golden Crow Pheasant Award), the laurel for the best film of the festival. The 25th IFFK begins in Thiruvananthapuram on February 10. Among the two Malayalam films in this category, Lijo Jose Pellissery s ‘Churuli’ will have its World Premiere at the festival. Meanwhile, Jayaraj’s ‘Hasyam’, the other Malayalam film in the competition category, had been screened at various other film festivals, including the Shanghai International Film Festival.
