NEW DELHI: After women officers getting permanent commission and command posting in defence forces on par with their male counterparts, gender discrimination in getting admission in military colleges and school including National Defence Academy may soon come to an end and female candidates may be allowed entry as the Centre on Thursday told the Supreme Court that it was not averse to considering it.
Responding to a public interest litigation seeking court’s direction to Centre to allow entry and equal opportunity for girls in institutions like Indian Military College, Rashtriya Indian Military College, Sainik schools, additional solicitor general Aishwarya Bhati told a bench of Justices Vineet Saran and Dinesh Maheshwari that government was not considering the issue adversarial and is agreeable to consider it.
