KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd has become the first bank in Malaysia to deploy a mobile onboarding (MOB) channel for retail customers that provided end-to-end account opening experience, including on-the-spot issuance of debit card via appointment.
In a statement today, Bank Islam said the new door-step banking service with MOB would expedite existing account opening process and enable on-the-spot account number and debit card issuance, as well as eliminate the need to have customers visit the nearest physical branch for the verification process. MOB uses specially-designed tablets fitted to allow openings of several types of Current Accounts and Savings Accounts (CASA) as well as Al-Awfar and iGain Investment Accounts.
KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 24): Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd has assisted 350,000 individuals and businesses impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic through its financial relief assistance, amounting to RM37.9 billion.
Chief executive officer Mohd Muazzam Mohamed said since the roll-out of the Bank Islam Targeted Repayment Assistance (TRA) programme in October 2020, almost 24,000 applications with outstanding financing amount of more than RM3 billion had been approved.
“As a responsible bank, we believe in helping our customers manage their financial obligations, especially in this trying time.
“The bank has been consistently communicating with our customers to provide the support they needed. We remain committed to assisting them in navigating through this difficult period,” he said in a statement.

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd is offering the Prihatin Programme, a moratorium to assist financing customers affected by floods.
This programme aims to ease flood victims’ financial burden, specifically customers under the Bank Islam house financing, personal financing and vehicle financing facilities. Eligible customers can apply for a moratorium of up to six months to pay their monthly commitment subject to the conditions set.
Bank Islam CEO Mohd Muazzam Mohamed said it is keeping abreast with the latest news on the flooding situation at all affected areas, and will be taking proactive actions in helping its affected customers.
