First. This all happening on alexandria pike in warrenton, virginia. Police say they went issue an emergency custody order. When they tried to arrest him, he ran into his house. They were able to determine he had weapons in the home. So they evacuated some of the other homes in the neighborhood just as a precaution. This led to a standoff lasting for several hours. Overnight, police say simpson fired at Law Enforcement officers from the home, fired outside, and then early this morning, he actually stepped out of the home and started firing at Police Officers. Suspects. Unifier firing his gun. We had a string of street robberies that took place this morning. Reporter one robbery was a hold up right here on atlantic street southeast. It happened around 8 30 this morning. Two people described as black males used a gun to carry out the robbery. Police tell us one of the men was wearing a mask. Another happened here on alabama avenue, about 30 minutes after the first one. Police saw the suspect in at least one of those robberies driving in a dodge charger. Officers tried to stop them but the car sped off. Police chased their suspect but only made it to 25th and palmer. That vehicle crashed and some of the individuals tried to bail out of the car.
