The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation announced today the start of commercial operation of the second Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, adding 1,400 megawatts of carbon-free electricity to the UAE electricity grid, bringing the total production of the first and second plants.
UAE continuing pioneering process of development through diversifying energy sources: Hamdan bin Zayed
ABU DHABI, 15th December, 2020 (WAM) H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, stated that the UAE is continuing its pioneering process of development, through implementing major projects aimed at diversifying and securing its energy sources and increasing the contribution of clean and environmentally-friendly energy to the country’s economic and social growth.
The UAE’s educated youth, who are equipped with knowledge in advanced sciences, is the core of the country’s plans, he added, noting that qualified and educated human resources are being prioritised by the country’s leadership and are managing many projects that require a high level of specialisation, most notably the UAE’s Peaceful Nuclear Program, which aims to diversify the country’s energy sources and ensure their sustainability.
