The impacts felt from Yasa were large and wide. Many affected people had their access to essential things, like food and water, cut off.

The Rotary Club of Peninsula Sunset collected $800 cash and 35 bags of relief items during their disaster relief initiative collection at the ROC Market in Suva, and donations continue to pour in.
Community Service Director Prashant Anuraag says the support from the people of Fiji towards the initiative has been tremendous and they are thankful that people have shown their support to those who have been affected by Tropical Cyclone Yasa.

Minister for Education Rosy Akbar. [Image: Fijian Government] Minister for Education Rosy Akbar says they will be providing temporary learning shelters such as tents to schools that they will not be able to repair or rebuild in time for the opening of the 2021 school year.
Akbar says they will have meetings with their Senior Management Team and discuss as to how they can rebuild or repair schools that have been affected by Tropical Cyclone Yasa.

TC Yasa’s centre is over Vanua Levu, making landfall in Bua
Yasa to stay over Vanua Levu for 3 to 6 hours Thursday 17/12/2020
The Nadi Weather Office says the centre of Severe Tropical Cyclone Yasa is over Bua and the whole category 5 cyclone is expected to cross Vanua Levu in 3 to 6 hours.
The centre of the system will go over Nasau and exit Sawani in Vanua Levu.
Atalifo says very destructive winds are being felt from Bua to Savusavu in Vanua Levu, Rakiraki to Tailevu in Viti Levu and Lomaiviti group, and then as the cyclone moves down further, Suva to Nausori areas will start getting destructive winds.
