Zamfara State Governor, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle has inaugurated a Commission of Inquiry arising from the reports received from various committees appointed to find a lasting solution to banditry and related crimes in the State.
The Governor who spoke through his Deputy, Barrister Mahdi Aliyu Gusau said that the commission would also look into the bailout funds collected during former governor Yari’s administration and the N107 billion missing as a result of various shoddy deals and other corrupt practices in the state.
The Governor said that his administration was making efforts to get to the roots of the problem of banditry and other related crimes that have affected virtually all parts of the State.
COVID-19: NCDC reports more deaths, 1398 new infections in Nigeria

The health agency disclosed this via its verified Twitter account on Wednesday night.
The centre also confirmed nine new deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the nation’s death toll to 1,382.
It added that the new infections were recorded from 22 States and the Federal Capital Territory, in the last 24 hours.
It disclosed that Lagos recorded the highest toll with 542 cases followed by FCT 131.

The Katsina State Police Command has recovered several lethal weapons of mass destructions from notorious bandits who surrendered themselves willingly to the state Police Command.

The rising cases of rape and sexual violence have unsettled the Yobe State Police Command, recording fresh incidents among girls between 11 and 13 years.
This was revealed in a statement the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Dungus Abdulkareem, an Assistant Superintendent of Police saying rape cases have witnessed a slight increase in December, last year.
The statement read in part: “In its efforts to curb crime and criminality in the state, it has been observed that rape cases recorded a slight increase.
“In the last month of year 2020, the police command recorded more than nine cases of rape in different police divisions across the state,” the statement said.
