Moro Hub signs deal with Huawei to build solar-powered data centre

Moro Hub (Data Hub Integrated Solutions ), a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, the digital arm of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), has signed an agreement with Huawei to build the largest solar-powered Uptime TIER III-Certified Data Centre in the Middle East and Africa at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.
The new sustainable, carbon-neutral green data centre uses 100% renewable energy and has a capacity exceeding 100 megawatts (MW) and is the second solar-powered green data centre in Dubai launched by Moro Hub.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), has commissioned a new 400/132 kV substation named ‘Shams’ at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.
It has a conversion capacity of 2020 megavolt-amperes (MVA) with 223 kilometres of 400kV overhead lines to connect with Dewa’s network.

Entitled ‘Aluminium Sector Greenhouse Gas Pathways to 2050’, the new report from the International Aluminium Institute (IAI) is designed to help the sector front-load decarbonisation in line with the Paris Agreement in the coming decades, aiming beyond 2C and towards 1.5C. The sector is notably accountable for 2% of annual global man-made emissions and is set to grow by 50% by 2050, in line with increased demands for digital products and things like electric vehicles (EVs).
