Need to boost share of farm, fisheries sector

Muscat: Members of the Majlis Al Shura stressed the significance of boosting the contribution of agriculture, fisheries, animal and water sectors and enhancement of investment in such sectors through infrastructure projects, including ports and harbours along with marketing of local agricultural and fisheries products.
The above statements came during the discussions with Dr Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources who presented the Ministry’s statement during the 9th regular session of the second annual convening (2020-2021) of the ninth term (2019-2023)
The meeting was chaired by Khalid bin Hilal Al Ma’awali, Chairman of Majlis Al Shura in the presence of the members and Secretary General of Majlis Al Shura, Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Nadabi.
Majlis to discuss food and water security in April 25 meeting

Muscat: The Majlis Al Shura will host on Sunday, April 25, Dr. Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, to discuss the 10 pillars related to food and water security and review investment ion farm field, said Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Nadabi, Secretary General of Majlis Al Shura.
He said that the first pillar would be related to food and water security and the contribution of both the agricultural and fisheries sectors in the economic diversification programme, the investment plan to achieve food and water security, the efforts of the ministry in terms of research and its role in food safety.
Shura Office discusses bank loan repayments issue of citizens

Muscat: The Majlis Al Shura Office discussed the opinion of the Economic and Financial Committee on the postponement of bank loan repayments of citizens, be they personal, consumer or housing loans.
This was done to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19 pandemic on the incomes of citizens and in a way that does not negatively affect the health of the banking and financial sector.
During the meeting, the Majlis Al Shura members discussed the proposal to create a new article in the Traffic Law with the right of the owner to cancel registration of the vehicle or to suspend its licence as there is no article in the law which handles final cancellation or temporary suspension of the vehicle licence and the mechanism for reactivation of the licence when required.

Muscat: In a meeting held on Tuesday, the Office of Majlis Al Shura approved the report of the Economic and Financial Committee on the two decisions related to the tariff regulation for the connection and supply of electricity, and the amendment of some provisions of the tariff regulation for the supply of potable water
The meeting reviewed a report and activities of the permanent committees during the period between the first and second annual sessions in 2020.
It also reviewed the messages of the permanent committees about their action plans for the current annual sitting.
Moreover, the meeting touched on the action plans of the Legislative and Legal Committee, the Economic and Financial Committee, the Health and Environment Committee, the Education and Scientific Research Committee, the Services and Social Development Committee, the Youth and Human Resources Committee, the Food and Water Security Committee, and the Media and Culture Committee, in addition to reviewin
