The time to act on Palestine and Kashmir is now, and tangible actions need to be taken immediately by the UN, whose “credibility is at stake,” said a top Pakistani politician.
“Why did the League of Nations fail miserably?” asked Shehryar Khan Afridi, the chairman of the Pakistani parliament’s special committee on Kashmir.
“Expectations are enormous. Our coming generation, future is at stake, so everyone needs to chip in. Let’s protect this universe and this entire world through peaceful means,” Afridi told Anadolu Agency in an exclusive interview, discussing the situation in the Indian-administered Kashmir and the occupied territories of Palestine.

MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan has strongly condemned the arrest of two sons of the martyred Kashmiri leader Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, describing it as yet another manifestation of the worst form of fascism by India.
Mr Sehrai, a close aide of the veteran Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Geelani, had died in Indian custody in Jammu on May 5. His two sons Mujahid Sehrai and Abdur Rashid Sehrai were arrested from their residence in Barzulla Baghat, Srinagar, in connection with a false case registered against them on May 6 in a police station in their native village.

Srinagar: Days after veteran separatist leader Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai died in preventive detention, the Jammu and Kashmir police arrested his two sons under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for âraising anti-national slogansâ during their father’s funeral.
This police action has come under criticism from different quarters, with political parties accusing the administration of punishing the children of the late leader for their father’s ideology. Seventy-seven-year-old Sehrai, who was booked under the Public Safety Act in July 2020, died at the Government Medical College Jammu on May 5, a day after he was shifted there for treatment after his condition worsened in district jail Udhampur.
SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have booked two sons of late Ashraf Sehrai under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for “raising anti-national slogans” at their father’s funeral on May 6, 2021, local news gatherer KDA reported.
