Mohamed El Mahdi Hasan, head of the Political Bureau of the National Umma Party (NUP), says that the framework agreement is open for necessary amendments proposed by current opponents. He told Radio Dabanga on Wednesday that they are contacting the main opponent groups to discuss their concerns. “The signatory and non-signatory parties agree on 95 per cent of the framework agreement articles,” he said. “It is never possible to achieve complete consensus.”

The most prominent points of contention between the mainstream Forces for Freedom and Change-Central Council (FFC-CC) and the military junta are the military's request for guarantees of immunity from prosecution for the abuses after the 2019 and 2021 coup d'états, says Mohamed El Mahdi Hasan from the National Umma Party. The FFC and military are currently engaged in a dialogue to reach an agreement for a new government.
Political analyst, Magdi El Gizouli, says that the visit to Russia by Deputy Chairman of the Sovereign Council and commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Lt Gen Mohamed Hamdan ‘Hemeti’, was arranged by the Russian Wagner mercenaries “in order to find a way out for their ally in Sudan, and to ensure his continuation in power so that they can continue to plunder the country’s resources”.
A committee made up of several university directors is working on integrating eight proposals presented by a wide selection of parties to come up with a unified, comprehensive initiative for a solution that will end the political stalemate following the October 25 military coup.
