MOUNT KISCO – Plans for a major downtown development more than 200 apartments and tens of thousands of square feet of retail, parking garage and community space by the train station appear to be off the table.
The village Board of Trustees narrowly voted down a proposed lease agreement with developers of the proposed Kirby Commons development. The agreement would have set the stage for further local review and eventual construction on adjacent village-owned parking lots on Moger Avenue by the train station.
The proposal called for the village to enter into a 99-year lease with Gotham Organization and Charter Realty & Development. It resulted from village officials inviting developers to submit proposals for the parking lots, and the selected project drew its share of supporters and opponents at public forums and in letters over many months.
