NSP, NDOT Urge Caution Ahead of Strong Winter Storm

BY Nebraska State Patrol Cody Thomas | January 24, 2021 JANUARY 24, 2021 (LINCOLN, NEB.)   The Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) and Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) are urging caution ahead to another round of severe winter weather that will affect much of the state. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning and Winter Weather Advisory that include most of the state’s most-traveled roadways, including over 350 miles of Interstate 80. “This storm has the potential to have a major impact on travel throughout the state,” said Colonel John Bolduc, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “The best way to stay safe during a winter storm is to make the important determination if travel is even necessary. If you have to travel, be prepared for adverse driving conditions and follow safe winter driving practices.”

NDOT Advances Projects Along Highway 275 Corridor : CEG

Tue January 19, 2021 - Midwest Edition #2 Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway 275 from Norfolk to Fremont has long been an identified corridor critical to the economic growth of northeast Nebraska and the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) has recognized this corridor as a priority. The passage of the Build Nebraska Act in 2011 followed by the Transportation Innovation Act of 2016 have helped bring NDOT closer to building portions of this important corridor. NDOT has continued to work with stakeholders in the region and its federal partners to complete the segment between Scribner and West Point. Nebraska looks to be in store for another major winter storm tonight and tomorrow which will impact travelers across much of the state. This week, the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) crews are prepared for the latest round of winter weather. Forecasts call for blizzard conditions in eastern Nebraska with snow, high winds, and reduced visibility. In eastern Nebraska, including Omaha and Lincoln, both the morning and evening commutes will be affected by blizzard conditions. Travelers across all of Nebraska should be prepared to wind speeds up to or even greater than 50 mph. NDOT workers and equipment will be out to clear the highways and monitor changing conditions throughout the storm.
