Affordable Housing: Union Govt Approves Construction Of 56,000 More Houses Under PMAY Urban A housing project under construction. (Wikimedia Commons) The Union government has approved the construction of 56,368 more houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban (PMAY-U) Programme, the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs said in a statement. The new project was approved at the 53rd Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee Meeting held on 22 February. These houses are proposed to be constructed under various verticals of PMAY-U Mission. A total of 11 States and Union Territories (UT) attended the meeting. “Let’s get into the mode of implementation and execution,” said Durga Shanker Mishra, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). He urged the States and UTs to ensure 100 per cent completion and delivery of PMAY-U houses to all its eligible beneficiaries within the mission period. Modi Govt Backed Science And Tech Cluster Opened By Telangana IT Minister KTR In Hyderabad Hyderabad s iconic Buddha statue (wikimedia) The first of the four Narendra Modi government-backed Science and Technology Clusters was opened in Hyderabad on Friday, reports Telangana Today. Science and Technology Cluster is an initiative of the Prime Minister’s Science, Technology and Innovation Advisory Council (PM-STIAC) to facilitate nationwide scientific collaboration. Similar centres will be opened in Bengaluru, National Capital Region (NCR)-Delhi and Pune. In Hyderabad, the Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad (RICH) will be leading the Science and Technology Cluster. K Vijay Raghavan, principal scientific adviser (PSA) to Government of India, and KT Rama Rao (KTR), Minister for IT, Industries and Urban Development in Telangana have launched the cluster through a virtual event.
