During the week of April 19, 2021, Governor Ralph Northam issued two announcements regarding key changes to his next steps in the “Forward Virginia” plan on easing restrictions in the Commonwealth. Every Virginian must continue to practice safety measures that have been proven to keep everyone safe: maintain proper physical distancing, avoid gatherings with individuals outside of your household, practice hand sanitation, and wear masks while indoors and in public.
The
key changes in the Fifth Amended Executive Order Seventy-Two, which went into effect on April 21, 2021 include:
All restaurants, dining establishments, food courts, breweries, microbrewers, distilleries, wineries, and tasting rooms may allow patrons to be seated at the bar for service, provided there is a minimum of six feet between parties.
The Covid-19 County Alert System, which is managed by the state Department of Health and Human Services, is designed to help individuals, businesses and community organizations and public officials track how their county is faring and to make decisions about actions to take slow the spread of the virus. The alert system uses five tiers of metrics to rank counties:
Green: Low Community Spread
Yellow: Significant Community Spread Red: Critical Community Spread
Because no one metric provides a complete picture, the Covid-19 County Alert System uses a combination of three metrics: case rate, the percent of tests that are positive, and hospital impact within the county. In the latest report from DHHS, Henderson County had fewer than 10 cases per 100,000 population.
Dickinson State to resume face-to-face learning January
In an expected move, Dickinson State University announced earlier in the month that the President’s cabinet voted unanimously to return to face-to-face education effective Monday, Jan. 4, 2021. 6:19 pm, Dec. 23, 2020 ×

According to DSU, the cabinet met and voted that the university could return to “Yellow Status: Moderate Community Spread” as decreases in the number of active COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in North Dakota have provided an opportunity for the in-person plan.
Employees will return to campus, with the exception of those who are at a higher risk and/or those positions which can be satisfactorily performed from a remote location such as their homes.
