It seems a new manufacturer (rightly) jumps on the electrified bandwagon every day. Jaguar has promised to electrify its fleet, Audi is taking its bread-and-butter A4 and A5 are adding volts and Volkswagen, well, you know what it did. But right now, it seems like we re at polar ends as enthusiasts.
There are cheaper hybrid and electric vehicles like the Toyota Prius and VW ID.4, and then insane electric supercars like the Porsche Taycan and McLaren P1. But in a decade or two, when the kids are driving used Nissan Leafs and Toyota Priuses and Chevy Bolts, what will they be able to do improve performance, beyond tires and suspension?

Unlike computer chips, there s never a shortage of Tesla news whether it s the rollout of Musk s latest full-self driving software that isn t really full self-driving, a fire in the Fremont plant or the blistering price of the latest Tesla Model S Plaid. Today we have 13 minutes of hands-free driving in Oakland, California where there are a lot of people, cars and scooters for the Tesla to find its way around.
If you keep your eyes on the navigation screen you can see some of what the Tesla s sensors are seeing including pedestrians, cars and trucks. The screen also features a notation for when FSD (full self-driving) is active, which means you can see when the driver takes over.
The EV manufacturer just bumped up prices and pushed back delivery dates on the 1,100-hp+ performance sedan.
Tesla is forever in the news headlines for various reasons, two of the latest being its misunderstood claims of self-driving tech, and its radical new yoke steering wheel, which has been causing quite the commotion on social media. The latest news to come from the California-based manufacturer has to do with what is possibly the hottest electric car right now, and one of the most potent: the Tesla Model S Plaid+. The Plaid was first revealed back in September of 2020 with insane power outputs and a hefty $119,990 price tag and was recently updated with a 520-mile Plaid Plus option. But just when you thought that Tesla was done causing a stir, it ups the price of its flagship performer by $10,000 and is making buyers wait even longer to get hands on it.
They represent a real danger if a fire breaks out.
While automakers continue making grand announcements declaring their emissions-free futures, this won t happen overnight. It ll take 15 years or more before we re all driving EVs, and many things need to happen between now and then: such as creating and implementing procedures to extinguish battery-related fires. The US government recently issued a report regarding this issue, which is also vital for firefighters. But one parking garage is not taking any chances with potential battery fires.
According to German publication
InFranken, an underground parking garage located in Kulmbach, Germany has decided to outright ban battery-electric and hybrid vehicles.
