Prestwick Academy THEY look set to be the legal profession s next generation of talent. Senior pupils from Prestwick Academy have earned praise after coming out top in a mock court competition three years in a row. The school is clearly a hot house for enquiring minds as teams have fought off competition from across Scotland - and the world - to repeatedly take the prize. Pitting teams of pupils against one another, the School Mock Court Case Project gives young people a taste of how the justice system works. They are divided into teams of Defenders and Pursuers and compete to win their case.
here s a sampling of the questions and how the children that were in this mock court responded. do you concede service of your nta? yeah. yeah? do you concede the allegations in your nta? yeah. do you admit deportability? yeah. admit removability? yeah. are you afraid to return to your home country? yeah. yeah? yeah. so if you were removed, would you like to designate a country of removal? yeah. okay. what country would that be? pizza. the children you just saw there will not be deported. you do get a sense of the tough questions that young children are facing in court behind closed doors, questions they simply don t understand. according to kids in need of defense, 90% of children who go into immigration court without a
prosecutors, maybe some who have worked with mueller or worked with others associated on the mueller team so they understand what mueller is like to work with or be interviewed by. and have them lead the prep sessions, as i say, i have analogized it to preparing for a presidential debate. i don t know how the president prepared for his presidential debates, but i know how others do, and it s a serious mock court sort of process where you are running through the various questions and answers that you anticipate will come your way so that when they come your way, you don t hear them for the first time. when i was preparing for this segment, i was thinkinguct about those presidential debate preps as well. we know this president isn t much for preps, in fact, he threw out his prepared remarks literally in the air this week. and you mentioned that as well. i spoke with sam nunberg a long time ago, who was part of the debate prep for the president during the campaign, who basically said, t
