An NZTA weather camera shows Old Coach Rd (State Highway 93) just before it was reopened by the NZTA on Tuesday afternoon.
Snow drifts up to a metre deep are lying on some roads in the Clutha district south of Dunedin, and some roads in West Otago are impassable after a southerly storm dumped snow on the area on Monday. The Clutha District Council says it could take until Wednesday to clear roads in the Waipori/Mahinerangi area, and roads at Moa Flat, Wilden School, Wilden Runs, Wilden Settlement, and Hukarere Station are impassable because of snow drifts.

Firefighters from three brigades were called to a house fire at Moa Flat on Monday night. (File photo).
Six crews from the Millers Flat, Heriot and Tapanui Fire Brigades responded to a fire in an old farm house at Moa Flat on Monday night. The fire was throughout the house when firefighters arrived. Fire and Emergency New Zealand was alerted to the blaze on Keppoch Rd at 7.27pm. A FENZ spokesman said it was believed the house was not occupied at the time. He did not know if the fire was being treated as suspicious.
