Police have been told to be decisive when protecting and defending citizens.
Police Minister Bheki Cele addressed members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Kempton Park yesterday as part of the Safer Festive Season Inspection Tour. Cele visited various parts of Ekurhuleni, including New Tembisa Mall in Ivory Park, a taxi rank on Pretoria Road in Kempton Park, as well as a roadblock on the N12 East.
The police minister did not rule out the use of force in implementing the law.

Police Minister Bheki Cele and senior members of SAPS are out at various beaches in Cape Town to monitor and enforce Covid-19 regulations.
Minister Cele will be accompanied by SAPS management for a day-long visit to various beaches in Cape Town on Wednesday 16 December 2020 (Day of Reconciliation).
Capetonians traditionally flock to the beach on Reconciliation Day, but this year things may be different with tighter Covid-19 regulations.
Cape Town beaches are only open from 9am until 6pm and strict social distancing measures will be enforced.
